Out of this world’ Raider? Well, he has a brother

And Johnie Ray Nabua did it again.

This time, he and his crew worked on a different Suzuki Raider 150 to churn out another transformer-like custom build.

Just like his previous bike build, Johnie can proudly say that the concept for this one is really his own.

When we featured one of his works nearly a year ago we were shocked with what he’s done with the Raider.

It’s got lots of chrome, looks like a robot and it has a hubless front wheel, something we hadn’t seen before.

This time upped the ante by “creating” another concept as if the first one wasn’t “out of this world” enough. And this one has several speakers on it.

“Ayaw kong pumipick up sa ibang concepts eh,” he said during our chance meeting at the recent IR Bikefest.

The IT specialist said, he usually sorts out ideas from the net then combine them to build an entirely new concept.

With this one, only the engine and the engine holder from the base bike he and his crew worked on. The rest, he said were made of aftermarket and fabricated parts.

Johnie said his newest build cost him about P300,000.

But he wasn’t building these bikes to promote a shop or build a business out of it. Johnie said it was just purely a hobby.

“Hindi ko po siya negosyo. Kaya siguro nag-iistandout yung concept ko kasi I’m not willing to duplicate it. Hindi ko pinopromote yung concept para gayahin ng iba, personal ko lang po ito,” he said.

“Maraming lumalapit sa akin especially pag gawang hubless, pero hindi ako makapag-commit,” added Johnie. “Bale libangan ko po, parang asawa ko na ito eh.”

He also dispensed an advice to other builders who want to create original ideas with their builds.

“Kung akong mag-aadvise sa kanila, para tumaas ang level ng competition, mag-isip sila ng ibang concept na tipong titignan ko rin ang gawa nila kasi sa kanila lang ‘yun,” said Johnie.

A wise advice, indeed.
